starting therapy can be overwhelming, but don’t worry—I’ve got you

  • During our first session, I will give you information about how therapy works and any limitations to confidentiality. From there, we will spend time getting to know one another and, if it is comfortable, start to gently explore what brings you in. This slow process gives us a chance to build a relationship and tends to put you (or your young person) at ease. The only goal is to get comfortable and for us to start to know each other.

  • I am often described as "down to earth," and my approach to therapy is no different. I tend to be somewhere in the middle of the "directive-not directive" spectrum. I value deep listening and offer support and validation, AND I believe that sometimes we need to learn new skills or take committed actions. I weave skill-building into sessions as the opportunity arises naturally and build on strengths and values that you already possess. Therapy with me is always, first and foremost, centered on help you feel settled and reminding you that you are not alone here.

  • I am an advocate of youth collaboration and believe that goal setting should be done together regardless of age.  I truly believe that only you can truly describe your suffering and what you'd like to see change. However, I will provide feedback and support in translating what change can "look like" into practice. How will we know when you've succeeded, and what will signal us that you are doing better?

  • My session fees are $200 for an initial session and $175 for all sessions following.  I also accept many insurances, so please ask if I am in network with yours. If I’m not, that doesn’t have to be a deal-breaker—I can also provide you with a superbill to get reimbursed by your insurance. I believe mental health care should be accessible to all, so ask me about a reduced rate if you need it.

  • I love to use feedback-oriented practices to track how it’s going for you both in and out of therapy. this lets you express what you love or don’t love about the therapy process and gives me a chance to adjust how we're doing things so you feel more supported.
